Shelling in St. Pete Beach

Shell Key Preserve is a barrier island located just south of St Pete Beach, Florida. A quick boat ride from our dock and you’re on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. In September of 2017 Hurricane Irma split the island in half and created a new pass, which has now become the local’s favorite place to visit. Abundance of shells and things to collect. Don’t forget to hang a shell on the mangrove trees, a St Pete Tradition.

Walking the shorelines is the easiest way to spot the shells you want to collect, but the best way to find some good shells is to get in the water. Whether you want to just wade and look around or grab a mask this is your best bet at finding that prize souvenir.
